Rakalam Bob Moses, born January 28, 1948 in New York City, is an American jazz drummer.
Moses was still a teenager when he played with Roland Kirk 1964-1965. He formed The Free Spirits in 1966 with Larry Coryell. From 1967 to 1969, he was a member of Gary Burton’s quartet. In the 1970s, he recorded with Burton, as well as work with Pat Metheny/Open Sky, Mike Gibbs and Gil Goldstein. He was part of Compost in the 1970s with Jack Gregg, Jumma Santos and Jack DeJohnette.
His 1975 session was his first as a leader; Gramavision’s 1980 releases were highly acclaimed.
Moses performs with Don Pate, John Lockwood, and John Medeski. He also teaches at New England Conservatory.
