Brenda Navarrete began her musical journey at age 9 at the Manuel Saumell Elementary Schools of Music. She hoped to pursue percussion and a career as a musician. In 2009, she graduated from Cuba’s Amadeo Roldan Music Conservatory, where she was awarded accreditations as an ensemble leader, percussion teacher, and instrumentalist. Brenda Navarrete won the first prize in the category Bata drums and best interpretation by a woman artist at Cuba’s prestigious Fiesta del Tambor 2010. Brenda is a renowned singer, percussionist and composer who has worked with a variety of artists including Obini Bata (Afro-Cuban percussion group), Joaquin Betancourt (Jazz musician), Munir Hossn, Alain Perez and Munir Hossn. from www.brendanavarrete.com
