Nerija, a group of young musicians based in London, was recently nominated Jazz FM Breakthrough Acts of the Year 2016. They play original music that is inspired by Jazz, Hip Hop and South African Township. They have toured Europe and the UK together, performing with top UK jazz musicians like Nathaniel Facey, pianist Zoe Rahman and supporting Jazz Jamaica at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. Recent performances by Nerija include UK festivals A Love Supreme and Latitude, Brainchild as well as Jazz Re:Fest, Jazz Festival Manchester, Jazz Festival London, Jazz Festival EFG London Jazz Festival. They also had the amazing opportunity to support Hypnotic Brass Ensemble’s Manchester Jazz Festival set, which was featured on BBC Radio 3 at the end of 2015. They released their self-titled debut EP in 2016, and performed at Cadogan Hall and the Barbican Centre.
