New York Trio

This combo, also known as the New York Jazz Trio is a studio-only band that specializes in recording classic standards in an easy-to-understand, post-bop style. The New York Trio is composed of three talented musicians who have a long history on the East Coast jazz scene. Bill Charlap, a member the Phil Woods Quintet has performed with Gerry Mulligan and Tony Bennett. He has also recorded several well-received albums as a Blue Note bandleader. Jay Leonhart, bassist, has been a headliner on the record since 1983. He also made a name for his vocal skills and songwriting abilities, backing up Marian McPartland and Louie Bellson. Bill Stewart, a drummer, had performed demanding gigs with many musicians, including John Scofield, Maceo Parker, R.E.M., and Maceo.
