Jose Luis Cortes, NG La Banda (NG stands to “Nueva Generation” or “New Generation”) were the new stars of Cuban popular music. NG La Banda, a Cuban rythm that combines complex Cuban rythms like son, songo, and rumba with jazz, rock, and funk, created a new type of music known as timba. NG La Banda, which featured an all-star line-up, added incredible musical virtuosity and Afro-Cuban grooves to their music.
