Dan Nimmer was born 1982 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A young soul, Dan Nimmer is an old soul. He plays with the passion, the spirit and the soul of someone who has been around for a longer time. His playing recalls the great technique of Wynton Kelly, Wynton Peterson, Erroll Garner, and Art Tatum. When he was young, Mr. Nimmer was given a piano by his family. He began playing by ear and was “called” to the instrument. He took up jazz piano, and later became interested in classical piano. He also began performing in Milwaukee. After graduating from high school in Milwaukee, Mr. Nimmer moved to Northern Illinois University to study music. He quickly became one of Chicago’s most active pianists. Because he was active in the Chicago music scene, Mr. Nimmer made the big move to New York City. He was instantly embraced by the New York City scene. After playing with many musicians in New York, Mr. Nimmer was hired by Wynton Marsalis in 2005 to join his Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and Wynton Marsalis Qintet. He has been a member of both since then. Wynton Marsalis is not the only one who has recorded and performed with Mr. Nimmer. He also recorded and performed with Norah Jones and Paul Simon, Chick corea, Chick Corea and George Benson. Nimmer has been seen on numerous television shows, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, The View and Good Morning America, The Kennedy Center Honors.
