9 Volt was born out of an unlikely partnership between two accomplished musicians: Rick Parker, a trombonist from New York City, and Eyal Maoz, an Israeli guitarist. Together, the two musicians have released 9 CDs on renowned labels like Tzadik and Fresh Sound New Talent, Piadrum, and Ayler Records. They have played at many major venues, including the Montreal Jazz Festival and Williamsburg Jazz Festival as well as Red Sea Jazz Festival and Somers Point Jazz Festivals, Aguascalientes Mexican Jazz Festivals, Aguascalientes Jazz Festivals, the Stone, 55 Bar, and Blues Alley. They are also highly sought after sidemen, having played alongside John Zorn and Tim Berne as well as John Medeski, Frank Lacy, John Medeski, John Medeski, and John Medeski. 9 Volt’s distinctive sound is a combination of Parker’s use electronics with the trombone and Maoz’s unique approach in guitar and effects. The unique sounds of these musicians are integrated into the music to create a music that combines electronic experimental, rock, jazz, and neoclassical minimalism. Yonadav Halevy, an Israeli-born drummer who is well-respected in jazz and funk/hip hop circles, holds the band together. 9 Volt has been honing its sound since 2009 performing at NYC venues and concert series. The band recently recorded their debut CD with Tim Bern, an avant-garde alto saxophone legend appearing on many compositions. from http://9voltmusic.com/about/rick-parker
