Sam Pannunzio

Sam Pannunzio began his studies in accordion early. At the tender age of 16, he discovered accordion music was not for everyone. He switched to piano lessons with a local teacher. The NORAD Band stationed in Colorado Springs in the 1960’s so he was able to study with Al Green (Urbie Green’s brother). He was able to travel with the Lee Arellano trio from Denver and play Las Vegas and Texas right out of highschool. He attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston. There were many great musicians at that time: Richie Cole and Alan Broadbent among others. He studied with Charlie Mariano (piano player at the time with Mel Torme) and Ray Santisi. He then moved to Seattle, WA. He also played with Kenny G., before he made it big. Jerome Gray was a master jazz pianist and teacher. Sam is an active jazz pianist from Pueblo Colo. He is currently performing at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs’ Penrose room. Sam has also been teaching improvisational techniques on the piano for over 30 years. from http://eastsidejazzclub.com
