Antonio Parker

Antonio Parker is a Philadelphia native and is well-known for his energetic, dynamic, and virtuosic performances. He also has a wide range of musical styles. Although his jazz roots are strong, his musical influences include a broad range of musical styles. He is a visionary performer who has performed nationally and internationally for more than 20 years. Antonio graduated from Howard University, where he earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of the District of Columbia. He was a USIA (United States Information Agency), Jazz Ambassador to Africa. There he conducted and performed jazz workshops in Nigeria and Togo, Zaire and Congo. He has performed and toured in Japan, Scotland, Spain, Canada. Austria. Antonio has shared the stage with many famous entertainers and artists, including Chuck Brown, The Blackbyrds and Peabo Bryson. His debut CD “The Exchange”, released in 2002, was well-received. His most recent recording, “Steppin’ Out”, a 2-disc set, was released in 2012 by his Airegin Label. It documents his constant growth as a performer and composer, as well as being able to lead bands. His most recent recording, “Planetentiary”, was released in 2016. It shows the dynamic range and artistry of his art, as he explores jazz, funk, and groove with collaborations from the likes Roy Hargrove, and Russell Gunn. Antonio has been a teacher of music in both the Washington, DC and Prince George’s County Public Schools.
