Alan Pasqua is Professor of Jazz Studies at USC. He was born in New Jersey. At seven years old, he began playing piano both classically and jazz. He studied at Indiana University, and earned his bachelor’s in jazz studies from New England Conservatory. Pasqua met Tony Williams, the legendary drummer, while performing at Carnegie Hall. Pasqua was invited to join The New Tony Williams Lifetime with Allan Holdsworth, guitarist. Pasqua moved to Los Angeles after recording two “Lifetimeā albums for Columbia Records. As he began to play with pop and rock artists, Pasqua’s career in Los Angeles grew. He was a member of Santana and Bob Dylan’s bands. Ray Charles, Aretha, Elton John, Queen Latifa are just a few of his pop album and touring credits. He has also worked with Quincy Jones and Quincy Jones, Jerry Goldsmith, Jerry Goldsmith, Henry Mancini, and on motion picture soundtracks. Alan also composed the soundtrack to Disney’s The Waterboy movie starring Adam Sandler. Pasqua has recorded and played with Jack Dejohnette and Paul Motion, Dave Holland and Randy Brecker. He also recorded with Gary Burton, Gary Bartz and Reggie Workman. Apart from his many highly acclaimed recordings as a leader and arrangement of “Standards”, Pasqua also collaborated with Dave Carpenter and Peter Erskine to produce and play on the Grammy Award-nominated trio album.
