Fritz Pauer, October 14, 1943 – July 1, 2012. He was an Austrian musician, composer and bandleader. Pauer was born in Vienna. He began his professional playing career in his teens, performing with Hans Koller (1960-62) and then leading his own ensembles from Berlin. He played in the 1960s with Don Byas and Booker Ervin as well as Art Farmer, Dexter Gordon and Friedrich Gulda. He taught at the Vienna Municipal Conservatory from 1968-1970 and was later a member the Osterreicher Rundfunk dancing orchestra. He recorded in the 1970s as both a leader and with Klaus Weiss, Peter Herbolzheimer, and other musicians. Pauer briefly moved to Peru in the mid-1980s. He then moved to Switzerland in 1986.
