Skinny Pelembe, a Johannesburg-born wonder, is multi-talented and a multi-talented artist who creates patchworks of musical and personal touchstones. He made his debut in 2017 and has since developed a unique musical style. Memories and observations are woven together, Californian folk blended with the darker corners of the UK dance tradition. He exalts the UK’s imperfect and contradictory reality, celebrating its post-recession Britain. His debut album “Dreaming Is Dead Now” came out last May. He’s been praised by The Observer and The Quietus as well as Huck. This is a rare type of debut record.
