John Proulx

John Proulx, a jazz musician, singer, and Grammy Award-winning composer, is from Los Angeles, California. His singing style has been compared to that of a young Chet Baker. He is also a MAXJAZZ recording artist. His debut album, Moon and Sand was released August 1, 2006. John Proulx hails from Grand Rapids in Michigan. He grew up in the Eastown neighborhood. He is the son of Suzanne Proulx and Mark Proulx. He began his musical education at age 3 with a Suzuki violin but soon switched to classical piano lessons. Clyde Proulx was his grandfather and a jazz guitarist. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1994. John attended Aquinas College, Grand Rapids, for two years after graduating from high school. After high school, John moved to Chicago and studied at the Chicago School of Performing Arts of Roosevelt University. John moved to Los Angeles in 2001 to pursue his musical interests. John Proulx composed songs for jazz legends Mary Stallings and Greg Walker. Deana Martin recorded his song, “Stuck In A Dream With Me”, on her 2013 album “Destination Moon.” John Proulx wrote the song “These Golden Years,” with D. Channsin Berry, for Nancy Wilson’s 2006 album “Turned To Blue,” for which she won the 2007 Grammy Award.
