Tina Raymond

Tina Raymond, a drummer from Los Angeles, CA is Tina Raymond. Raymond is a unique voice in Los Angeles’ contemporary improvised music scene. She blends traditional jazz vocabulary and African polyrhythm with classical percussion technique. She has performed, adjudicates and presented workshops at festivals, venues and conventions around the world with many jazz legends like Bobby Bradford, Emil Richards and Vinny Gaolia. You can hear her on Orenda albums such as Cathlene Pineda’s “A Weeks Time” and Jon Armstrong’s “Burnt Hibiscus”. She will also be releasing a trio album with Putter Smith, Art Lande and Art Lande entitled “Left Right Left”. Raymond studied classical percussion with Percussion Group Cincinnati’s members, African ewe music with Alfred Ladzekpo at California Institute of the Arts, and jazz drumming with Joe LaBarbera and Jeff Hamilton.
