Jason Rebello

Although classically trained, Jason Rebello was inspired by Herbie Hancock. In the early 1990’s, Weather Report’s jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter first brought Jason Rebello to his attention. He was a pioneer of modern jazz revival and was signed quickly to BMG Records on a deal for three albums. After the death of Kenny Kirkland, a piano legend, he produced two more albums and toured extensively internationally with his own band. Jason recorded with Sting for his Grammy-winning albums Brand New Day 1999 and All This Time 2001, as well as Sacred Love 2003. Jason met Jeff Beck, the guitar legend, through Sting’s introduction in 2006. Beck and Jason worked together on Emotion and Commotion’s 2010 album and co-wrote the Grammy-winning single Hammerhead. Jason gained respect over the years for his musicianship. His technique, diversity, and adaptability allowed him to work with artists from all walks of music, including Phil Collins, Phil Collins and Madeline Peyroux. He was inspired by his family’s life in Bath to start Jazz Rainbow. Jason was inspired by a love for teaching and the belief that music can be an important part of children’s development. He has been working nationally to promote musical workshops in schools. Jazz Rainbow, a charming reimagining of beloved children’s songs that the entire family can enjoy, was the result of the project. Jason continues to lecture at music colleges and schools, including The Guildhall School of Music. The Royal Northern College of Music, The Welsh National College of Music, and Bath Spa University. He teaches master classes and workshops at Jazz Festivals in Europe and the UK. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the Jazz Factory at Wiltshire Music Centre. from http://ccgi.rebello.plus.com
