American jazz percussionist Steve Reid is best known for his work with The Rippingtons. Reid started his career as a session musician in 1970s and played on many recordings. Reid founded The Rippingtons in 1987. He also performed with Supertramp from 1987 to 1988. Jazziz magazine named him Percussionist-of-the Year in 1993, 1995 and 1997.
