Robotobibok, a combination of two Polish words meaning robot and skiver, was founded in 1998 in Wroclaw (Poland). Their music combines modern electronic music and improvised jazz energy. The sound is a combination of strong and acoustic drums and bass, as well as trumpet and trumpet. It also features dreamy vibraphone sounds and analogue electronica that was typical of the 70’s. The result is reminiscent of early electroacoustic experiments and 70’s electric music. Robotobibok’s core music is their post-jazz rhythm section. Although allegedly inspired by electronica, they go further and create more complex structures. Robotobibok also strive to create their own language of improvisation. Individual instruments may play solo but they all work together in the end. Robotobibok released three records: Jogging (2000) and Instut Las (2003). They also released Nawyki Przyrody (2004) through its own label Vytvornia OM. This is Technology in Service of Meditation. It also released other projects like Tomasz Gwincinski, AGD. The band has been touring relentlessly for the past four years (among other things, Knitting Factory – New York 2002; Paradiso – Amsterdam 2004; AB Brussels 2004); also at various festivals such as “XI Warsaw Summer Jazz Days 2003”, “Sergey Kuryokhin International Festival 2002” in Berlin, and “Eurosonic Festival 2004” in Groningen. They also released “16th Dour Festival” which is held in Dour. Robotobibok has played alongside Nils Peter Molvaer and Khamer as well as Tied and Tickled Trio and De Kift and Fennesz. They toured briefly in the USA in April 2002 and have been playing regularly in Holland, Belgium and France since January 2004. from http://www.robot.futuro.info.pl
