Claudio Roditi, May 28, 1946 – January 17, 2019, was a Brazilian jazz trumpeter. He arrived in America in 1970 to attend the Berklee School of Music. He moved to New York City in 1976, where he performed with Charlie Rouse and Herbie Mann. He worked with Paquito de’Rivera in the 1980s. He was part of Dizzy Gillespie’s United Nations Orchestra. He was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1995 for “Symphonic Bossa Nova”, and for another Grammy Award in 2010, for Best Latin Jazz Album for Brazilliance X. Roditi was a frequent performer on the rotary trumpet. From Wikipedia: Roditi died from cancer at the age of 72 in 2020.
