Roberto Rodriguez, percussionist, composer, was born in East Havana Cuba and raised in Miami. He brings new music to the table through his cross-cultural roots. He draws on his influences from traditional Cuban music to modern genres of world music and Sephardic, jazz, and improvisation. He is one of today’s most talented performers and composers. Education: Roberto Rodriguez was born in El Vedado Habana, Cuba. He studied trumpet, piano, violin and trumpet at Caturla Conservatory of Music, Habana. His father, trumpeter Roberto Luis Rodriguez, taught him drumset and trumpet. Roberto started playing drumset professionally at 13 years old in Miami, along with his father’s ensembles and Israel ” Cachao” Lopez. He was awarded full scholarship to Univ. Miami.
