Jamison Ross is a Jacksonville native and was the winner of Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition 2012. He graduated from The Florida State University with a Bachelors of Music degree in Jazz Studies. Jamison currently lives in New Orleans, Louisiana and is pursuing his Masters of Music. Jamison discovered his passion for music while growing up in the church of his grandfather. This love for music began at the age of 14 and has since spread far beyond the walls of the church. His upbringing is responsible for the captivating music that he creates. He has had the privilege to work alongside world-class musicians such as Wycliffe Gordon and Wynton Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis and Wynton Marsalis, Marcus Roberts and Irvin Mayfield. Jamison was selected in 2009 for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency program at the Kennedy Center. He was then asked to join Carmen Lundy’s Band, a Grammy-winning songwriter and singer. He has been a touring musician and played at some of the most iconic venues in the world through Lundy. His joyous sound can be heard on London’s #1 Jazz Record Carmen Lundy “Changes”. On tour, Jamison can also be heard with Henry Butler or Wes Anderson. He will create a Joyful Musical sound in 2013 that will touch the souls and hearts of the entire world. Jamison’s debut album will be released in January 2014, thanks to a Concord Jazz recording contract. Jamison Ross’ debut album will feature original compositions by top musicians.
