Vimala Rowe

Vimala Rowe, in her teens, left England to travel to the Far East. She quickly became a successful rap artist with TKO. Later she was a solo artist and wrote and recorded a hit record that featured guitarist Tommy Emmanuel. After that, she spent a year learning Hindustani Classical singing in Nagpur India. This greatly influenced her style. She returned to England and recorded the EP “Vimala” with Simon Horn. This album of original compositions won the Indy Music award 2008 for Best Soul, Jazz or Funk Act. She has been a remarkable performer on the London Jazz Scene, performing with luminaries like Bobby Wellins and Jonathan Gee. With notable performances at Ronnie Scott’s with Alex Webb Band, The London Jazz Festival (“Crazy Coqs”) with John Etheridge, and at The Leicester Square Theartre’s Cafe Society Swing, her performances have captivated audiences all over the world. Her combination of Jazz sophistication, swing, soulful passion, and a hint Indian exoticism makes her captivating. “A captivating and seemingly effortless voice of soul” – Justin Wilkes of Kiss FM. “The Fabulous Vocals of Vimala rowe… stripped the songs from their datedness, and brought them into modern times” – Birdlives.co.uk. www.vimala.tv/
