Kermit Ruffins

He was a founding member of the 1980’s New Orleans’ Rebirth Brass Band. With whom he recorded seven albums and toured the globe, Ruffins was a pioneer. In the early 1990’s, Ruffins started his own band. This was a more traditional New Orleans jazz group. He has also performed with The Kermit Ruffins Big Band. His style is reminiscent of Louis Armstrong’s great trumpeter Nawlin. He performs regularly with his backing band, the Barbecue Swingers, in New Orleans clubs. He also brings a truck to sell Bar BQ, which easily doubles a night’s musician fee. This is a clever idea that will satisfy both the stomach and spirit of his fans. He has also been a guest on numerous recordings, including those of Harry Connick Jr. and Los Hombres Calientes. Selected Discography: Solo albums: Kermit Ruffins
