Le Ry-co Jazz

Ry-Co Jazz was a pan-African icon in the 1960s, when they introduced West Africa to their unique Congo/Latin rhythms. Henri Bowane was the first to bring Franco into the studio. The band was formed in Congo in 1958/59. Freddy N’Kounkou [vocal], M’bilia Casino (congas and vocals] and Panda Gracia (double bass) were the original members. Jerry Malekani, an ace guitarist, joined them soon and stayed with them until their epic adventure ended in 1972. They spent four years in France, starting with Jean-Serge Essous, a sax player, and influencing the pioneers of zouk music. From discogs
