Rob Schneiderman is a pianist, composer, arranger, educator and was raised in California. His Jazz career began in San Diego, where he played piano for soloists like Eddie Harris, Sonny Stitt and Harold Land. In 1982, he moved to New York and gained performing and touring experience, which included trips to Europe, Japan, and with Chet Baker, Chet Baker and James Moody. Rob was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts performance fellowship. He performed with Jimmy Heath and Slide Hampton. Slide and Rob collaborated on the CD New Outlook. This was the first of Rob’s ten recordings as a leader at Reservoir Music. These CDs include over twenty Schneiderman originals and many standard arrangements. Glass Enclosure is the most recent release. It features Charles McPherson as master saxophonist, along with Todd Coolman on bass, and Leroy Williams on drums. The other sidemen on the dates include Rufus Reid and Billy Higgins, Ralph Moore, Ralph Moore, Ralph Moore, Lewis Nash. Akira Tana, Billy Hart and Gary Smulyan are some of the others. Rob’s Reservoir CD, Keepin’ in the Groove was awarded 4-1/2 stars from Down Beat magazine. As a sideman, Rob recorded sessions with J.J. Johnson and TanaReid. Rob is a Jazz educator and was most recently in residence at Stanford Jazz Workshop. In addition to teaching at numerous clinics across the country, he also taught Jazz as an adjunct professor at Queens College NY (with Rufus Reid), and William Paterson University (with Jimmy Heath).
