I am a Scottish drummer living in London. I recently completed a Masters degree with Trinity Laban, where I studied jazz drums. I also received a Trinity College London scholarship and an Archers scholarship. My debut album with Khoalesce will soon be available. Please stay tuned. I am a drummer with a few small jazz bands, including the jazz-fusion trio Cygnus Flare. We won the 2017 Yamaha Soho Jazz Sessions contest and have been performing around London, notably at Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Soho and Armenia. The Khoalesce project, which brings together London jazz musicians to create and perform original compositions, Tomorrow’s Warriors and the MO Jazz Orchestra are also my projects. I also play timpani with the Amati Orchestra. In March and April 2018, my performances at the Royal Festival Hall were with the WOW Orchestra, featuring Alice Russell, and in an Easter production Bernstein’s MASS conducted by Marin Alsop (a protégée of Leonard Bernstein). Reuben Kaye, a Grammy-winning singer, Lady Rizo and the Pico Players Orchestra on BBC Strictly Come Dancing were my recent musical companions. Also, I was a part of the Pico Players Orchestra on BBC Strictly Come Dancing and the Pico Players Orchestra in the August show. Keys player in Faith No More, Sasquatch the Op, Sasquatch the Opera, the BBC Elstree Concert Band, the King Groovy Big Band and the Spanner Orchestra, the City, the Rehear Orchestra, the Collaborative Orchestra and the St Bartholomew Academic Festival Orchestra and the Rehear Orchestra. I am also a pianist in the City Lit bigband. After I moved to London, my first love was jazz. I began playing at jam sessions and gigs and also played with Tomorrow’s Warriors (led by Gary Crosby) at their weekly sessions at Southbank Centre. From 2012 to 2014, I lived in Boston where I was a member of the Dudley Jazz Big Band at Harvard University and the percussion section of the Dudley Orchestra. I was also a regular player in bands at Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory, as well as gigging on the local circuit. I also studied with Professor Ian Froman and John Ramsay, Berklee’s Chair for Percussion. I also took lessons with Ra-Kalam Bob Moses, whose playing is unlike anything I’ve ever heard !!).. All of them were extremely kind and supportive teachers who helped me in many different ways. I am forever grateful to them all. Asaf Sirkis, and Gene Calderazzo were two of my favorite drummers at Trinity. I am also grateful to many other kind and patient musicians, friends, and mentors who have enriched my life and encouraged me as a musician. I am happy to be a member of the Roland UK/Protection Racket artist programs. from www.carolinescottmusic.com/about
