Elliott Sharp

Sharp is an American multi-instrumentalist, composer, and performer. Elliott Sharp is a central figure in New York’s avant-garde music scene. He has released more than 85 recordings, which range from orchestral music, blues, jazz and noise to techno music. He is the leader of the projects Carbon and Orchestra Carbon and Tectonics and Terraplane and pioneered methods of using fractal geometry and chaos theory and genetic metaphors for musical composition and interaction. His collaborators include Radio-Sinfonie Frankfurt, pop singer Debbie Harry, Ensemble Modern, Qawwali Singer Nusrat Fateh Al Khan, Kronos String Quartet, Ensemble Resonanz, cello innovator Frances Marie Uitti, blues legends Hubert Sumlin, Pops Staples, Pipa virtuoso Min-Xiao Feng, jazz greats Jack deJohnette and Oliver Lake and Sonny Sharrock, as well as multimedia artists Pierre Huyghe and Christian Marclay, Pierre Huyghe and Bachir Attar, who is the Master Musicians Of Jajouka. Sharp has written scores for feature films, documentaries, and sound-design for interstitials for MTV, Bravo and Sundance channels.
