Jason Sharp, a Montreal-based baritone/bass saxophonist, is well-known for his musical and creative use of extended playing techniques. His solo saxophone concerts focus on acoustic resonances and feedback. He also explores the relationship between heart rate and breathing. He has performed solo for Joe McPhee and Peter Brotzmann as well as Ken Vandermark. Jason has recorded with Matana Roberts and Thee Silver Mount. Zion Memorial Orchestra, Sam Shalabi and Roscoe Mitchell for Constellation Records. You can hear him as a regular member in Joshua Zubot’s Mend Ham and Sam Shalabi’s Land Of Kush. He is also a member of Nicolas Caloia’s Ratchet Orchestra. He has been a regular contributor to Montreal’s vibrant improvised musical community. He has performed on the stage with artists like Jean Derome and Lori Freedman. He is currently the president of Innovations en Concert which promotes new music in Montreal. From www.jasonsharp.ca
