The Solsonics were formed in 1991 by Jez Colin, bassist, and Willie McNeil, percussionists. They hail from Los Angeles’s underground scene. The band mixes soul-jazz and hip-hop rhythms with elements of reggae and Afro-Cuban music. The first national release for the Solsonics was Chrysalis’ 1993 Jazz in the Present Tense.
