Logan Strosahl

Logan Strosahl, a composer and saxophonist, is passionate about jazz improvisation and the history of jazz. Logan was born in Seattle, WA in 1989. He played in the Roosevelt High School jazz band and secured spots in the Gibson/Baldwin Grammy Jazz Band (206-7). After graduating from Roosevelt High School, Logan attended New England Conservatory. There he studied Turkish music, 16th-century polyphonic music, composition, and other subjects (studying under Anthony Coleman and John Mallia). He continued his jazz studies alongside John McNeil and Jerry Bergonzi. Logan’s compositions are a harmonious blend of jazz aesthetics and music from many musical sources. Polyphonic part writing is a particular area of interest, along with cadences and techniques derived from 16th- and 17th-century music. Logan is also an improviser, rooted in Jazz tradition. This makes up a large portion of his musical work. Sunnyside Records will release Logan’s first album, Up Go We on July 24, 2015. Logan lives in Brooklyn. from www.sunnysiderecords.com
