Félix Stüssi

Felix Stussi is a lover of adventure and new wind, whether he’s on his bicycle or behind the keyboards. Stussi’s move from Switzerland to Canada has seen him abandon journalism and focus his attention on jazz piano and composition. His quintet won the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal’s prestigious Grand Prix in 2007. The band is made a sextet when Ray Anderson, a US trombonist, joins them. They are nominated for multiple prices after the band’s first three albums are well-received on both sides. The band has toured Canada in 2009 and Europe in 2005 and 2011. The label NAXOS is distributing the brand-new album by the sextet, ARRABBIATA (Effendi Records FND 133). Felix Stussi regularly returns to Europe where he has performed with Nils Wogram and Jurg Wickihalder, among others. Wickihalder, Stussi and Nils Wogram are both members of the Sam Trumpy Memorial Jazz Coalition. They have released a CD with the same name on Altrisuoni (AS 282) since 2009. Stussi formed LES MODERMODES in Canada with Daniel Lessard (bass) and Pierre Tanguay (drums). LES MALCOMMDOES presented their eponymous album, Effendi Records 2012, FND 123, in Europe on a spring 2014 tour. Stussi’s projects receive support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Quebec. Felix Stussi is married with two children. from http://www.felixstussi.com
