John Tropea

John Tropea is a guitar player who is highly respected and admired. His playing demonstrates a deep knowledge and respect for the history of the instrument, as well as an original style which continues to determine how the guitar can best serve a variety of musical styles. He is a musician’s guitarist who attracts the best players for his projects. Tropea has played and written for major recording artists around the globe. His contributions to the success of other artists have been many over his long career. These include his solo work with Deodato (2001 theme), his projects with Laura Nyro (Cat’s in the Cradle), Harry Chapin (“Cat’s in the Cradle”), Paul Simon (Fifty Ways), Alice Cooper (“Goes to Hell”), Eric Clapton (Journey Man), Dr. John and many more. His personal projects show his ability to be a producer, arranger, composer and musician. Tropea is a well-respected artist of high quality, both among musicians and audiences around the world. Tropea started guitar lessons at age 12. He continued his musical education at Berklee School of Music, Boston, where he studied harmony, composition, big band arranging, and jazz guitar. Tropea started playing live R immediately after he arrived in Boston.
