Vassilis Tsabropoulos was born in Athens. He is known as one of the most outstanding Greek pianists. He was a prodigy and won music competitions at the tender age of ten. After graduating from Athens National Conservatory he continued his education on the Aristotle Onassis Scholarship to the Paris Conservatory and the Salzburg Academy, where he studied with great teachers Rudolf Serkin, Tatiana Nikolayeva, and the Julliard School. Tsabropoulos won the UNICEF competition at age ten. Many of his distinctions and awards are too numerous. His collaborations with Orchestras throughout Europe and Greece, performing an ever-expanding repertoire both in recitals and concertos, are just a few examples. As a soloist, he is likely to be with Orchestras like the Yuta Symphony Orchestra (Czech), the Budapest Chamber Orchestra (Bungarovka Philharmonic), the Sofia Philharmonic and the Athens Camerata. Tsabropoulos is a participant in numerous international festivals across Europe. He has also performed in every season at the musical centers around the world, performing a growing repertoire of recitals, concertos, and chamber music. Tsabropoulos has made Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Chopin, and Chopin central to his performance repertoire. However, he is also a committed advocate for Russian music and often plays the works by Rachmaninov and Prokoviev. Tsabropoulos’ playing is a combination of intellectual probity and warm and musical feeling. He is also sensitive to the color of tone and delicate fingerwork. Tsabropoulos started his career as a keyboard virtuoso, playing solo and concerto pieces. However, his interests have expanded significantly. Tsabropoulos is a well-known classical pianist and interpreter of music from 19th and 20th centuries. He is also known for his exceptional improvising piano playing and composing. Tsabropoulos composed music for Orchestra, string quartets, music to violin and cello, and many solo piano pieces, including the preludes he wrote for Vladimir Ashkenazy. He is an artist with ECM Records and has been touring Europe since 2000, playing in a piano trio with John Marshal and Arild Andersen, as well as solo piano concerts with concerts in France, Germany, Austria, Norway and Denmark.
