Pianist, composer; genres: classicals, jazz and theatre music; was born 7 July in Lodz (Poland). Maciej Tubis began playing the piano at an early age. He had performed with the Orchestra of Stanislaw Moniuszko Musical Schools Complex, Lodz, at the age of 14. His education enabled him to graduate from the Grazyna u0026 Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music, Lodz, Poland with distinction. He studied piano under Professor Beata Cywinska. Tubis also took lessons in improvisation, big band music, and other subjects. He is currently a lecturer at Lodz’s Faculty of Jazz and Stanislaw Moniuszko Associated Music Schools. Maciej Tubis has performed in many jazz clubs across Poland, as well as recitals on radio stations. He formed Tubis Trio in 2004 with Marcin Lamch, bassist, and drummer Przemek Pazan. Tubis Trio – Live in Luxembourg is their first and only album. It’s a recording of a concert that was held at the Robert Krieps Auditorium in Luxembourg on 25 September 2008. Popular magazines like Jazzwise, The New York Village Voice and AllAboutJazz.com all praised Tubis Trio. Maciej was working on his own project at the same time. In 2007, Maciej Tubis released Spelnienie, which was his debut album. It was recorded during a concert at the Concert Hall, Lodz Philharmonic. Tubis’ career is rapidly developing and he was awarded the Lodz Mayor Award in 2008 for best jazzman in Lodz. Maciej Tubis has been collaborating regularly with Karolina Glazer, a jazz vocalist since 2007. Maciej Tubis’ main inspiration is Arvo Part’s minimalist music and Scandinavian Jazz. However, he also enjoys free jazz improvisation and other music that “flows from the heart”. (Maciej’s website). Spelnienie was a finalist in the Competition of Interpretation of French Music 2004, Warsaw, Poland. He also won the Jazz Pianists Competition, Warsaw.
