Dave Tull, who is best known for his work as a drummer with Richie Cole, Jack Sheldon and Michael Buble, is also a talented singer. His voice is strong and he can sing scat well. He also has a great command of lyrics. Tull sings, plays the drums, and contributed to all 14 songs of I Just Want To Get Paid. Tull is a great lyricist, telling stories about jazz that are both humorous and full of insight. The songs “I Just Want To Get Paid”, “You’re Talkin’ Too Loud” and “The Minutes Go like Hours when You Sing” are memorable. They deal with deadbeat bandleaders and noisy audience members, as well as amateur singers who shouldn’t be allowed to sing in. Tull’s singing is sincere and his songs are well-sold. On some selections, Corey Allen, the pianist, and Kevin Axt, the bassist, are joined by Doug Webb, the saxophonist, and Steve Huffsteter, trumpeter. from https://davidtull.com
