Hideaki Ura

Hideaki (known as ‘Hide’ and pronounced HEE-DAY) is a Japanese pianist/composer/arranger, currently based in Boston. Born in Nagasaki, he was a composer/arranger from Japan. From the age of 4, he studied piano at Yamaha Music School, composition at seven and jazz music at 10. He studied with Hatsuko Ichizuka and Osamu Kaitani while he was at Yamaha Music School. Hide graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2017. Hide studied music theory, composition and orchestration with Tamar Siendruck and Arnold Friedman. He also studied piano and composition under Vadim Neselovskyi. Hide started his trio in Spring 2018 and performed at many recitals. He also worked on various recording projects. Yamaha Music Foundation selected Hide as the Yamaha Music Scholar in 2019. In January 2020, Hide toured Japan together with Ryo Miyachi and Kunito Katai. Hide graduated in May 2020 from Berklee College of Music. His music is complex and skilled and is based on many music genres, including jazz, fusion and progressive rock, metal and djent.
