US3 is a jazz-rap band that was founded in London in 1991. Blue Note Records has provided them with samples of some classic songs. They include “Cantaloop” (Flip Fantasia), which is a sample of Herbie Hancock’s “Cantaloupe Island”, from their first album Hand on the Torch. The song gained much attention and was soon able to reach platinum status in the United States. It was also adopted as the theme music for WBUR’s public radio station The Connection.
