Dan Wall

At 17 Dan Wall was awarded a DownBeat magazine Hall of Fame Scholarship. This launched his successful career as an organist and jazz pianist. His impressive record of collaborations with artists such as Joe Lovano and Mick Goodrick, Eddie Gomez and Joe Lovano, Joe Chambers and Joe Chambers has landed him in concert halls across Europe, North America, Japan, Korea and the Middle East. He has also played with Lee Konitz and Tom Harrell, Charlie Rouse and Henry Mancini, as well as Sheila Jordan and Bernard Purdie on two Grammy-nominated albums. Wall’s work has been praised by many publications over his entire career. Wall has been featured in DownBeat’s International Critics’ Poll 16x since 1993 and its Readers’ Poll many times. He’s also been featured in Billboard, Jazz Times and Jazziz as well as Variety, Record World and DownBeat. He can be found in the 2nd edition of the New Grove Dictionary of Jazz and broadcasts from NPR and VDR as well as the BBC among other radio and television stations. Wall has been playing Hammond organ since 1991 for the John Abercrombie Troo. The trio received critical acclaim on its first two albums, While We’re Young, and Speak of Devil. According to the Los Angeles Village Review, “When it comes down to sheer musicality,” Abercrombie’s Trio is the best band. John Abercrombie and his trio are just a few of many artists who have recorded and performed Wall’s compositions.
