Abe was born September 8, 1977 in Santiago de Compostela, Galiza. At age 4, he began musical studies in the Historic Conservatory of Santiago. The method used for beginners was Kodaly. This way of learning emphasizes creativity, intuition, and the importance of listening. He went on to study at the jazz school, “Estudio Escola de Musica” in Compostela. Solfege began his education with jazz songs, but he soon discovered that improvisation was the best way to express this art form of music. He graduated Cum Laude in Jazz Composition in 1995 from Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. He returned to Santiago de Compostela in 2000, just as he had always intended. Abe believes music is a powerful tool for emotional communication and an avenue for intuition. These principles are the guiding principles of all his projects. His primary instrument is his piano. His second instrument is the drums. He is also an educator and composer. He has been the director and leader of an acoustic trio of jazz musicians since 1996. The trio currently includes Abe, Pablo Martin Caminero on double bass, and Bruno Pedroso on drums. Abe performs and records occasionally with quintets or septets. Visit www.pnmartists.com
