Chris Rand, a London-based Saxophonist, was born on the south coast in Dorset. To study at the Guildhall School of Music, he moved to London. Chris quickly rose to be one of the UK’s most prominent saxophone players, recording with top Jazz and Blues musicians around the globe. Chris has performed with Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones, as well as being a guest artist with George Porter Jr. (The Meters), Mick Taylor and Chris Jagger. Chris has performed with Elliot Randall, guitarist of the Blues Brothers and Steely Dan, as well as Davey Payne, sax player (Ian Dury u0026 the Blockheads). Chris was also part of Bad Manners, which performed at festivals in Russia, Spain, and the UK. Chris is also a member of the Ben Waters Band. Most recently, Chris has been performing with British blues band Nine Below Zero. This was his first appearance at Glastonbury Festival this year. Chris founded his own quartet, “The Chris Rand Quartet”, in 2014 to perform his own compositions. His debut CD, “Gathering”, will be released worldwide by Dot Time Records DT9047 in January 2016. This CD contains a collection of original compositions that are influenced by the many styles Chris has been inspired by over the years. Ben Waters, Dave Green, and Derek Nash will be guests on Chris’s “Gathering”. Chris has performed at many venues including Ronnie Scotts’, Pizza Express Jazz Clubs, Bulls Head Jazz Clubs, 100 Club, and Boarderline. Chris has also performed at many festivals, including London Jazz Festival, Camp Bestival and Larma Tree, Swanage Jazz Club, Swanage Jazz Club, Bulls Head Jazz Club, 100 Club, and Ealing Blues.
