Jean marie “JM” was born in central France’s Loire Valley. He started his career in the middle of France as a drummer in the band Trans African Express, a funk-oriented group featuring a Central African singer. They performed together throughout France. Attracted to Brazilian rhythms, he joined the Battucada Band ‘Saravah. He was able to learn the drumset percussion technics from this band. He moved to Paris to study jazz and attended the CIM, which was the only jazz school in Paris at the time. 1985 saw a boom in jazz music in France. Jean marie quickly became a respected drummer in Paris. She was invited to perform with Eric Seva and other great french jazz musicians. 15 years living in Paris, surrounded by northerners
