Jim Rattigan has been a jazz soloist as well as being a member of several bands around the globe. These include the Michael Brecker Quidectet and the Charlie Haden/Carla Bley Liberation Music Orchestra. Jim has toured with and recorded with the Mike Gibbs and Hans Koller bands with Steve Swallow, Bill Frisell, Julian arguelles Ensemble, Mark lockheart’s Scratch Band, and the London Sinfonietta. Jim founded “Pavillon” and recorded “Unfamiliar Guise” in 2000. He recorded “Jazz French Horn” in 2004, “Shuzzed”, “Strong Tea” in 2011, and “Triplicity” in 2014. Jim studied french Horn at Trinity College of music, London and the Royal Academy of Music. As a student, he was part of the European Community Youth Orchestra as well as a founding member of Eurojazz (European Community Youth Jazz Orchestra). After graduating from college, he began a freelance career with various London symphony orchestras as well as chamber orchestras and small ensembles. He was a six-year member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He also played with the Bobby Lamb/Ray Premru Big band and on the Mike Gibbs album “By The Way”. Jim has been a part of many film scores, including the James Bond films, Lord Of The Rings movies, Batman, The Bourne Ultimatum movie, Moulin Rouge and Shrek, as well as several James Bond movies. He has also composed music for film T.V. He has also written music for radio and film T.V. Jim has collaborated with many pop artists, including Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones, Barry Manilow and Paul McCartney. He also toured with Tony Bennett’s band, recorded with June Tabor, and performed with Blues singer Michael O’Callaghan. Jim was recently awarded an A.R.A.M.
