Keith Oxman (Jay), tenor alto saxophone; born in Denver, CO on 14 August 1958. Since the mid-70s, he has been playing in Denver. He has lived in Denver his entire life, except for 1992 to 2000 when he lived in Colorado Springs. Louis, a Denver, CO native, was born January 10, 1922, and Fannie-Rose Oxman, a Oklahoma City, OK resident, on February 13, 1932. Both parents are musicians. Both are still alive. At birth, he had one sister named JuliAnn Oxman. He is now married to Juli Ann Harnett. She was born in Denver Colorado, on August 29, 1960. From 1967 to 1970, Oxman was a private student of Nick Romeo. During most of the 1970’s, he studied with Willie Hill, Jr. From the early 60s until 1970, he attended Carson Elementary School in Denver. From 1970 to 1973, he attended Hill Jr. High School. From 1973 to 1976, he attended George Washington High School in Denver. From 1976 to 1984, he attended the Lamont School of Music, University of Denver. He received a BME (Bachelors in Music Education) as well as an MA, with an emphasis on Clarinet Performance. During his time at the Lamont School of Music, he also studied privately with Ramon Kireilis (only 1977-1984). During the late 1970’s, he also studied jazz privately with Gene Rush. Susan Kay Oxman is his wife. She was born in Denver, Colorado, on April 7, 1964. She plays the flute and bassoon. From 1984 to 1988, she studied at Hartt School of Music in Hartford. She earned a BM. From 1989 to 1991, she studied at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. She earned an MM. From 1991 to 1992, she was a bassoon player in the Rishon-LeZion Symphony Orchestra of Israel. Nathan Henry Oxman was born in Denver, Colorado, on November 29, 2000. Their daughter Anna Kate Oxman was born in Denver, Colorado, on January 25, 2003. From 1993 to 2000, he taught in Widefield Colorado’s School District 3. From the fall 2000 through the present, he has taught at East High School in Denver, Colorado. Both positions were in Instrumental Music. Buddy Rich, Jack McDuff and Valery Ponomarev were some of his musical collaborators. Eugene Bass, a Chicago-born drummer, had been his partner for the last two years at El Chapultepec. From www.jazz.com
