Quatro a Zero has a peculiar path inside brazilian music. They create an instrumental music with Choro as its main influence, focusing on its language and accents. They also cross over the boundaries of the genre by mixing Choro with other languages. This creates a unique music. Quatro a Zero’s history of growth and repercussion has been a wonderful one, from 2001 to today. They have performed more than 100 times in more 50 Brazilian cities, including Porto Alegre RS and Boa Vista RR. In 2004, they won 2nd place in Brazil’s Music VISA Award and released their first album, “Choro Eletrico”, the next year. The group was immersed in Radames Gnattali’s music in 2006, and the result was a tribute to Gnattali’s centenary. It also joined the important cultural project “Projeto pixinguinha”, which took them on a tour of Brazil’s northern regions in the “Circuito Instrumental Universitario” (Instrumental Stage Circuits), where they performed alongside Joel Nascimento, a mandolinist. The group was involved in an extensive research project on Choro exclusively made in the State, Sao Paulo, called “Memorias do Choro Paulista”, which led to the release of its second album, “Porta Aberta”. The group traveled throughout the State of Sao Paulo with this project. The death of Lucas da Rosa, the drummer and the percussionist of the group’s founders in 2009 caused a lot of grief.
