3ology, a Colorado-based trio, explores the possibilities of improvisation. Doug Carmichael, saxophonist (Mojomama), Tim Carmichael (C Spot Groove Trio, Ryan Elwood Trio), and Jon Powers, drummer (Matt Morris and Sanskrit), create a unique sound that’s both avant-garde, melodic, edgy, and spacious. The three musicians were all born and raised in Colorado. Tim and Doug, brothers, have been playing together in music for most of their lives. Jon has worked with them in various settings over the past 10 years. They formed 3ology in 2007 together. 3ology’s recordings received positive reception nationally and internationally. They have been played on radio stations across the US, Canada and Australia. They have collaborated with artists such as Scott “Gusty” Christensen (didgeridoo/percussion), Milo Fortes (rapper), Ron Miles (cornet) and Joe Gamble (electric guitar).
