With a passion to bring a new flavour of jazz, Sylvain Saint-Onge (guitar), Mathieu Runcourt (upright basse) and Jean-Francois Gingras (“drums”) formed the 5 for Trio in Quebec City in august 2011. They have been trying to bridge the gap between progressive and modern jazz since then. They are ready to bring a fresh and exciting brand of jazz to the table with their willingness to experiment and create a unique sound. Genetiquement modifie (Genetically Modified) was their first EP. It featured five original compositions. After the success of their first release, the 5 for Trio has been invited to perform at many well-known festivals such as the Edmundston Jazz.
