Aaron Burnett & The Big Machine

Aaron Burnett was born in Lemoore (CA) on October 14, 1981. He was born with a talent for visual arts and began studying classical saxophone when he was 11. He became interested in jazz music at the age of 16. He attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 1999 to 2001 for jazz and classical performance. After that, he moved to Boston where he studied at Berklee College of Music from 2005 to 2008. There, a degree was awarded in Professional Music. Aaron believes it is important to create a unique sound while at college. He studied advanced harmony, world music and classical Baroque composition techniques. Many great musicians have performed with him, including Teri Lyne Carney, Teri Lyne Carrington and Kurt Rosenwinkel. Jeff Tain Watts and Kim Thompson are just a few. In 2012, Esperanza Spalding’s world tour with Radio Music Society saw him on stage with her three-time Grammy winner. Aaron has also maintained the true essence of jazz in his music, his playing and in his music. He is constantly looking for new ways to interpret the music, while being consistent with the times. This is combined with his love for jazz and tradition and has made him an innovator within jazz. It is imperative that jazz music reflect the times in a society that is dominated by banks and corporations. Aaron Burnett made it his mission to bring people the sounds of the present and the future. From www.smallslive.com
