Abe Most

Abe Most, the older brother to flutist Sam Most, is a superior swing clarinetist. He has spent most of his career in studios or recreating the work of Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw. In 1939, he joined Les Brown, served in the military from 1942-1945, and briefly accompanied Tommy Dorsey in 1946. In the late 1940s, he moved to Los Angeles and worked as a studio musician. Abe plays most often in local clubs, sometimes with his brother, and at classic jazz festivals. However, despite his talent, he has not recorded as a leader. He was a leader in obscure sessions for Superior (1946), Trend (54), Annunciata (78) and Camard (1984). Abe Most passed away in his sleep on October 10, 2002. He was 82.
