Acoustic Alchemy

Greg Carmichael and Nick Webb produced a series mellow albums in the late ’80s/early ’90s that were classified as adult contemporary music. However, the guitarists also cover jazz and new age. Both were raised in England during the 1960s, listening to pop/rock. Webb studied jazz guitar at Leeds College of Music, while Carmichael concentrated on classical guitar at London College of Music. Acoustic Alchemy was founded by Simon James and Webb. The duo later became Webb and Carmichael. They initially performed in flight music for Virgin Airlines on trans-Atlantic flights. Acoustic Alchemy was signed to MCA in mid-’80s and released Red Dust, their debut album.
