Al Caiola, guitarist, first made his name as a session musician. He played on records by Percy Faith, Andre Kostelanetz and others. In the late ’40s, Caiola was the conductor/arranger for United Artists Records. After leaving UA, he signed to RCA where he issued a few singles in 1950s. He signed with RCA in the early 1960s and scored his first hit with The Magnificent 7. It peaked at 35 in 1961. The theme to Bonanza, which reached number 19, quickly followed. Caiola continued to record instrumental albums, host a television program, and also produced a few easy-to-listening songs. Caiola recorded throughout the decades. He died in Allendale in New Jersey at the age of96.
