Alex Rossi

Alex Rossi was born in Blumenau, South Brazil in 1974. He met the Harmonica during his childhood. The only harmonica factory in the Three Americas was found on his way to school and the road he took to visit his grand-mother. Alexandre visited the factory many times to see the instruments being made. However, no one was able to play them. Alexandre will have to wait until he is 13 to get his first harmonica. The young musician rewards his melodic explorations with the basic musical knowledge he gained from the practice of percussion and saxophone, as well as the technical information provided at the factory. He develops his own technique, moving step by step into harmony. Alex has deepened his musicality through various bands and Jazz festivals, where he shared the stage with Hermeto Pavar. He travels to Buenos Aires (Argentina) at 18 years old. At 21 he moves to Dallas, Texas, USA. He will be a professional musician and he will benefit from the experience. The young man will play with some of the most prominent names in the Blues scene, including Holland K. Smith and Smokin’Joe Kubeck as well as Tutu Jones and Lucky Peterson. Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor and Carey Bell shared the stage at the Tulsas’s Blues Festival. After visiting his family in Brazil, Buddy Guy tries to return to Texas. However, he is still blocked at the border and is denied entry to the USA. He decided to leave the front, despite the terrible decision. His creativity and activity have not decreased since he has established himself in his home country. Alex is an active musician due to the many courses he gives (sometimes up to 40 students per week), studio records, stage performances for musicians growing in number and enthusiasm, and tours in Argentina, Chile and Chile. He has played with many musicians, including Phil Guy, John Primer and Jeff Healey. He also plays harmonica with Billy Branch, Joshua Redman, and Phil Guy. He was invited to be a regular stage musician for Phil Guy’s South American tours four times. He records his first solo album, “Let Me In”, with TopCat Record from Texas in 2007. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, he gets more gigs and more studio performances with more musicians. He packed his bag again and traveled to Europe in 2008, landing in Antwerp (Belgium). Blues Boulevard Music Avenue, a Belgian label, gave him European distribution of his debut album. He recorded and released an album titled “Acoustic” on TopCat Records in 2010. It was with guitarist Greg Wilson. Alex’s latest TopCat Records CD is called ‘Sessions.’ It is a compilation from various studio sessions with top Brazilian blues artists, such as Greg Wilson, Fernando Noronha, and Solon Fishbone. http://www.last.fm
